Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish |
Valentines Day is coming up, which I guess is why this week's Top Ten list is about my favorite romances. I'm not gonna lie, I'm not big on Valentine's Day, but I do love me some romance, so these are my Top Ten favorites that I can think of right now. (Warning: I spend most of this post crying and not explaining my feels. Please try to understand.)
1. Adam and Mia from If I Stay and Where She Went by Gayle Forman
These two had SUCH A HARD TIME with basically everything. They broke my heart more times than I can count. As such, their relationship, for better or for worse, is one that's going to stick with me for a VERY long time.
2. Daine and Numair from The Immortals Quartet by Tamora Pierce
Normally I don't go for the older man, younger girl scenarios but somehow Tamora Pierce makes it work. Then again, Tamora Pierce makes EVERYTHING work, so I'm not even a little bit surprised.
3. Suze and Jesse from The Mediator Series by Meg Cabot
Guys. It's SUZE and JESSE. There are no more words required for this entry.
4. James and Lily from Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling
I asked my friend for help on this one because I was struggle bussing. She pointed out that even though we never see these two in action we still get the feeling that they'd be the most adorable ever.
5. Severus and Lily from Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling
So normally I have all ships lined up and there are no overlaps. This person's with this person, that person's with that person and that's IT. Even if it's not canon, I usually have my feels in order. BUT NOT WITH HARRY POTTER. Ugh. ONLY J.K. Rowling could build a love triangle THIS GOOD. If you're looking for me, I'm hiding under my covers, trying to keep the tears away.
6. Lyra and Will from His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman
Ugh. Who was a kidding. Here come the tears. *sobs*
7. Hazel and Augustus from The Fault in Our Stars by John Green
8. Kate and Jarrod from Old Magic by Marianne Curley
I haven't read this book in a VERY LONG TIME and yet the couple in question very quietly snuck up behind me, tapped me on my shoulder and reminded me just how much they need to be on this list. I love Jarrod and Kate. I love this book. And when I get home to my copy in May I will be re-reading it.
9. Annabel and Owen from Just Listen by Sarah Dessen
This list can't possibly exist without a Dessen couple on it. That's where Owen and Annabel, possibly my favorite Dessen couple of all time, come in. I love them. So much.
10. Macy and Wes from The Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen
Who am I kidding? This list can't exist without at least TWO Sarah Dessen couples on it. Macy, Wes, I love you both. xoxo, Gaby.

6. Lyra and Will from His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman
Ugh. Who was a kidding. Here come the tears. *sobs*
7. Hazel and Augustus from The Fault in Our Stars by John Green
*Crying even harder now*
8. Kate and Jarrod from Old Magic by Marianne Curley

Okay. That's all from me. What romances made your list? Let me know in the comments below. I'll get back to you once I'm done SOBBING over some of the saddest love stories I have ever read.
I totally forgot about Will and Lyra but YES! First couple to break my heart in books. I haven't read them again because of that, so my memory's a bit sketchy, but I remember being just devastated. And James and Lily--another heartbreaking one.
ReplyDeleteNever forget WIll and Lyra!!! I love them so much. Definitely re-read!! I know I want to! :)
DeleteOh my gosh, Severus and Lily is one of the best should-be couple ever. I really want to read If I Stay but I'm kinda scared of emotional roller coasters.
ReplyDeleteMy TTT
Yeah, but the emotional roller coasters are always the best in the end, I think. Definitely give it a shot!
DeleteGreat list! I've got a few from HP, but I didn't even think to put Severus and Lily! Totally wish I had now. :D My TTTs are at LKHill and Musings on Fantasia. Happy Tuesday!
ReplyDeleteThere are SO MANY couples I can think of that I love that aren't on this list. It doesn't mean we don't love them less though! Happy Tuesday to you too! :)
DeleteLyra and Will are on my list too! They should have been together! That ending broke my heart! Great list.
ReplyDeleteMy TTT
UGH. YES. MY HEART. In my head they're still together so it's okay.
DeleteThanks for stopping by!! :)
I'd never thought of James-Lily-Snape as a love triangle before, mainly because they're not the main characters, but also because she never seems to reciprocate really. But Severus' unrequited love for her is very powerful and moving, can't believe I didn't think of it for my list!
ReplyDeleteGreat list! :-)
Y'know, I never thought of them as NOT a triangle until you mentioned it! I've given it a lot of thought and I'm still not sure. but still, the coupling broke. my. heart. So triangle or not, it's still on my list.
DeleteThanks so stopping by, Victoria!
I love that you for including Just Listen's love couple! Seriously. Lots of blogger love flying your way!
ReplyDeleteDeidra @ Simply Books.
My TTT
THANKS! I love blogger love :) And Just Listen, of course!
DeleteThanks for stopping by Deirdra!
Generally I found the "romances" in Harry Potter to be forced, but James and Lily is a good choice for this list!
ReplyDeleteOh no, I totally agree. I don't get Ginny/Harry OR Ron/Hermione at all. It's like JKR thought they'd be the most convenient and so she went with them. But everything with James, Lily and Severus really beat me up.
DeleteI now must go and read all of the book on your list because you are the only other person to put Severus and Lily on your list.
ReplyDeleteAH!!! I love that. Thanks so much for stopping by!! :)
DeleteOhhh, this was the love triangle thing! I definitely think James/Lily/Severus is a love triangle, if only because they're both in love with Lily and Lily loves them both. Also, Adam and Mia may just be my favorite couple of ALLLL. Until I read along and found Hazel and Augustus *starts sobfest*. AND The Truth About Forever just came in yesterday and I'm so freaking excited to start it!
ReplyDeletePeople debate as to whether or not Lily loved Severus. But it's so hard to know because it's not really her story, y'know? The three of them are really in the background.
DeleteAlso: YES YES YES READ THE TRUTH ABOUT FOREVER. Amazing. I'm so excited for you! You'll have to tell me what you think as you read. <3
SEVERUS AND LILY, oh my goodness! I think that they would have made an unorthodox, but real couple if it had happened to them. There's definitely something there...
ReplyDeleteAnd yay for Sarah Dessen couples! And of course, Daine and Numair! :)
Ugh. I want them to have a relationship but I don't because obviously you need Lily and James to be a thing. SO STRESSFUL.
