Top Ten Books On My Fall To-Be-Read List (63)

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish
So this week I went through my stacks of ARCs, expired and unexpired and was like, hey, maybe if I moved the ones I really, really want to read ASAP off the spare bookshelf in my older sister's now-empty room (some people have the smarts to get married and, y'know, have a new home with their spouse) to my nightstand. Of course, this has led to a tower of books on my nightstand, but this move forced me to clean off the stuff that was there before? Y'know, just a little bonus.

Anyway, here are the books I intend to read this fall. It's more than 10 but less than 20 so let's call it a wash. And let's hope that their presence on my nightstand will help make sure I get through each and everyone. (Everyone, form a prayer circle now. Maybe that'll help.)

Top Ten Tuesday by Alex: Throne of Glass Edition (62)

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish
Gaby has given me the opportunity to do this week’s top ten, and since I’m guest blogging on behalf of the Throne of Glass series, guess what this week is going to be about! Yes, my fangirling and how/why you should fangirl with me! YAAAAAAYYY

Actually, Gaby gave me a couple of suggestions on what to do and I’m stealing them. Instead of a traditional 10, today I am going to split it up and do TWO Top 5s!

First of all, a huge CONGRATULATIONS to Sarah for the Throne of Glass series landing at #4 on the New York Times Best Seller List!

Which is a perfect segue into...

Top Ten Underrated Contemporary Books (61)

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish
This week's Top Ten Tuesday is "Top Ten Underrated Contemporary Books." Or, at least for me it is. The actual topic is "Top Ten Underrated Authors or Books in X Genre." I chose the easy way out on this one: Went through my bookshelves and picked up the books I don't see enough on the interwebs and loved a lot and also happen to all fit in the same genre.

So, if you haven't read a contemporary novel in this stack, you probably should, because I liked them a lot.

Top Ten "Modern" Books People Tell Me I MUST Read (60)

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish
I say "modern" because if I listed the number of classics everyone always tells me I need to read we'd be here forever. But I'm bad at reading classics so I think I should go with books I'll maybe actually read if you guys get excited enough about them in the comments.

Top Ten Expired ARCs I Have I'm Not Sure I Want To Read (59)

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish
DISCLAIMER: I do not, in any way, mean for this post to sound ungrateful. I am incredibly grateful for all of the ARCs in my life. I just happened to have gone to ALAMW14, and BEA14. I also have some generous friends (whom I'm also incredibly grateful for). Between all of this, the ARCs pile up and I'm not a fast enough reader or a dedicated enough blogger to keep to any kind of schedule. Not to mention, between the moment a book is pitched to me or I read the back cover and I actually consider the book for reading pre-pub, I sometimes lose some interest.

I also sometimes forget when publication dates and then they're gone and then it's all confused and my brain melts a little. So there's that too.

Anyway, now that all of the disclaimers are done with, we can move on to the stack I seem to need to disclaim about...

Ten (Or Eleven) Authors Whose Books I Buy Compulsively (58)

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish
I have a serious book buying problem. Like, when I get birthday money, my dad asks: "How many books do you think you can buy with that?" I brush him off, but the truth is? I'm crunching the numbers even before he asks. So it's no shock that I have many books and, more specifically, many books by my favorite authors.

PLEASE NOTE: I have not read all books pictured below. There are a few instances of good reading behavior from me, but definitely not for each and every picture. Which basically means I'm a hoarder. And please try not to judge me for my Rainbow Rowell collection. (I KNOW, OKAY? I KNOW.)

So let's do this thing.

Top Ten Favorite Current TV Shows (57)

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish
If you follow me on Twitter, you might know I love television almost as much as I love books. Also, if you read this blog, you might recall the Veronica Mars Watch-Along I did for a while (until I failed to finish off season 3 - although I retain the right to finish that thing eventually). So, basically, this Top Ten Tuesday topic is absolutely perfect for me. But to make this topic a little more tackle-able (since I have way more than 10 favorite shows), I decided to only list shows that are current. Meaning, they're still on the air (although some of them are in hiatus right now for the summer). Also meaning you can binge what's out now but continue on with it and talk to me about it as new episodes come up. WOOHOO.

Ready?

Top Ten Blogging Confessions (56)

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish
Can we talk about how I've been doing Top Ten Tuesday for over a year's worth of Tuesdays? (It hasn't been a year since I started doing this feature though - sometimes I skip weeks.) I mean, I know how long I've been blogging (a little over a year and a half) but I don't count the weeks since I started. I just number these Top Ten Tuesday things for reference. And there are 56 of them on my blog. Nuts, I tell you.

Anyway, this week's topic if Blogging Confessions (which feels somehow connected to my moment in the last paragraph so woohoo for that). Ready to hear about the things I have to confess to?

Top Ten BEA Books On My Summer TBR List (55)

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish
In an effort to actually read the books I got at BEA in a timely fashion, I decided this Top Ten Summer TBR List needs to be all BEA books. I'm terrible at keeping to these lists, but I thought I'd at least but on a show. Y'know, to maybe make myself feel better and to do a little publicity for the ones I'm excited about. And to maybe create a little bit of accountability? The books listed are not necessarily my favorite books from BEA, but they are the ones I really do hope I can get to by the end of the summer. (Some of my BEA books come out a bit later. Others I know I probably won't pick up for a bit, even if their release date is on the sooner side for one reason or another.)

Anyway. Here they are.

Top Ten Books I Loved Best So Far This Year (54)

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish
Oh heyyyyy it's Top Ten Tuesday time! This week's topic is "Top Ten Books I've Read So Far This Year." (But obvs I retitled it because I'm sassy.) I have read an embarrassing 40 books so far this year (I moved slowly at the beginning of the year and I've slowed a bit recently) so I don't have that much to pick from. But I like to think I've been spending my time on books I really want to read instead of books I kinda sorta want to read. Because, y'know, I know what I like better now and have people telling me thoughts on books that I can apply to my life. (Friends of Goodreads, I love you.)

Anyway, I hope to read more - and faster - ASAP, but until then, here are the Ten (nay, eleven, since I included a sequel) Books I Loved Best So Far This Year.

PS: THANKS TO MY BEAUTIFUL, LOVELY, ALL KNOWING EPIC RECS PARTNER (LISA) FOR MAKING ME READ TWO OF THESE BOOKS.

Top Ten Books With Awesome Friendships in Them (53)

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish
I love books with good friendships. I didn't always have the best time with friends when I was YA-aged, though. I think reading about them kind of makes up for it. Or gives me hope for the future. Or helps me reflect on my current friendships. I don't actually know. I just like friendship books (Although I also like when there's also a love-interest thing thrown in with all the friendship stuff. Delicious.)

PS: Please note - not all of the books featured below are book one in their respective series, but I decided to feature the book in the series that best shows the development of the friendship in question. So pay attention, okay?

Top Ten Books I Put Off Reading For Dumb Reasons (52)

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish
So this week's Top Ten Tuesday post is TECHNICALLY "Top Ten Books I Almost Put Down But Didn't," but, honestly, the books I almost put down but don't usually don't fit on any Top Ten list. I mean, I don't dislike them or anything (mostly), but I don't have a Top Ten of them. I also generally suck at DNFing and don't really think about doing so while reading (unless I'm really, really miserable). So then I was going to do "Top Ten Books I Almost Didn't Pick Up." But then when I was putting together the list, I realized this post is actually titled "Top Ten Books I Put Off Reading for Dumb Reasons." Which is how we got here.

Top Ten Book Covers I'd Frame As Pieces of Art (51)

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish
Sometimes I walk up to my coworkers at the bookstore with a book in hand and say "WOULD YOU LOOK AT THIS COVER IT'S SO PRETTY." And then I pet the cover and strip off the jacket and check out the binding details. Everyone thinks I'm out of my mind. But I just want to buy second copies of all of these books so I can take the book jackets and put them on my wall.

Here's a list of 10 book jackets I often think of framing. In image form. Because who needs words when I can just show you pretty pictures?

If You Like the Show/Movie/Comic, You Might Wanna Read... (50)

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish
Gosh I'm egotistical. Proof? The title of this post. Because, of course, you must like all of the non-book things I like and, therefore, will like all of the book recommendations I'll make for you in this post.

Oh, I decide not to stick to any one non-book thing. My brain just wants to tell you about all of the non-book things I like and how they fit into my book life. But I couldn't help myself with my Supernatural read-a-likes, so there are two of those. Which isn't to say that's my favorite show. But I'm still watching it and it's really not good anymore.

Top Ten Most Unique Books I've Read (49)

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish
I've read many, many books. Many. And I love a lot of them, for lots of different reasons. But, ultimately, there are certain books that are incredibly unique. Now, there are a lot of qualifiers I'd use for uniqueness and many of these books fall under two, or even all three of the categories, but for simplicity's sake, I've boiled it all down. So please, sit back and relax while I tell you about the unique books I love based on the categorizations of "Prose" "People" and "Plot".

Top Ten ALA ARCs On My Spring 2014 TBR List (48)

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish
I'm terrible at sticking to these lists but I took a picture of a stack of ARCs I got at ALA I plan to read this spring. Since I'm feeling particularly lazy, I just took a picture of the stack. That's good enough, right?

Okay, so, I'm cheating this week for a bunch of reasons:

Top Ten Popular Authors I've Never Read (46)

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish
I feel like not all of these authors are as popular as others. But they are all authors I feel I should have already read for one reason or another. Now, as you read, you might think: "hmm, I haven't read any of their books" or "oh, I've been meaning to read that person's books too" or "that one was good, you should read that" or perhaps "GABY WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU STOP EVERYTHING NOW AND READ THAT" (you'll know that one when you see it). But whatever the reaction, just know I'm embarrassed to list all these authors here. Also know: I have at least one book by each of these authors and I will get to it. I promise.

Top Ten Books That Made Me Swoon (45)

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish
I liked what I did last week with the covers that linked to Goodreads and no text. My reasons for why books made me swoon (like with the crying) are very personal and individual to me and and, well, trying to verbalize and share them will probably turn me into an incoherent mess and no one wants to see that. Also, I'd had to put any spoilers out there in the world, and crying and swoons are two categories where spoilers could accidentally fall out of my mouth and into the world and I do not want that. It is bad for blogging business. So here are ten books I absolutely loved that made me swoon. And I hope that you haven't read all of them so you can pick one of them up this Valentines Day, read it, swoon, and totally get where I'm coming from!

Top Ten Books That Made Me Cry (44)

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish
I think for this week's post I'm just going to throw up 10 book covers and that's it. I don't really want to get into the reasons why each of these books lead to the crying and the sads and what have you. Like, even if you can't see why said book would make me cry, just accept it and move on. Because explaining might make me cry again and I just can't. Also, I acknowledge the The Fault in Our Stars by John Green will be on everyone's lists and I'm okay with that. Also, also, I cheated, this list is four more than ten. I'm okay with that too.

(PS: You should be able to reach the Goodreads page for each of these books by clicking the images. Please keep in mind that many of these books are not the first, or even the last, in their series. And furthermore, some of these books aren't out yet - Strange and Ever After doesn't come out until the summer! So consider this hype.)
