Hello and welcome to the YA Prom!

What is the YA Prom? Well, in case you missed the intro post, YA Prom is a chance for you to pick your favorite YA boy/girl, find a dress, and attend prom in the YA world! Oh, and there's going to be a Twitter chat later tonight at 8:30PM EST where you can come and talk about who you picked to be your date, what you think YA Prom would be like if we were all together in one room, and answer a bunch of question Alexa (Alexa Loves Book - my Prom co-chair) and I have come up with for the occasion!

Anyway, in case you're wondering what my YA Prom looks like...

It isn’t nice to play games.

Cassie knows coveting her best friend’s boyfriend is practically a cardinal sin. So when Aisha disappears, Cassie fears it’s her fault for even thinking of Ethan that way.

As the chemistry between them escalates, Cassie and Ethan discover a secret they never would have imagined: a hidden mansion in the mist-enshrouded mountains, where Aisha and several other girls are being held as dolls by a handsome young man who they call The Provider.

Torn between her forbidden feelings for Ethan, and her intense, unexpected attraction to The Provider, Cassie must overcome temptation. Because it turns out that even good girls can be drawn to dark things… and the game between Cassie and The Provider has only just begun, in this tantalizing start to an incredible series.

Review: The Last Best Kiss by Claire LaZebnik

Author: Claire LaZebnik
Release Date: April 22nd, 2014
Publisher: HarperTeen
Page Count: 374
Source: eARC from Edelweiss
(I received this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest
review. No favors were exchanged, my opinions are my own.)

First Reaction: Cute but ultimately forgettable.
Anna Eliot is tired of worrying about what other people think. After all, that was how she lost the only guy she ever really liked, Finn Westbrook.

Now, three years after she broke his heart, the one who got away is back in her life.

All Anna wants is a chance to relive their last kiss again (and again and again). But Finn obviously hasn’t forgotten how she treated him, and he’s made it clear he has no interest in having anything to do with her.

Anna keeps trying to persuade herself that she doesn’t care about Finn either, but even though they’ve both changed since they first met, deep down she knows he’s the guy for her. Now if only she can get him to believe that, too....

She’s traded in her law degree for her old private investigating license, struggling to keep Mars Investigations afloat on the scant cash earned by catching cheating spouses until she can score her first big case.

Now it’s spring break, and college students descend on Neptune, transforming the beaches and boardwalks into a frenzied, week-long rave. When a girl disappears from a party, Veronica is called in to investigate. But this is no simple missing person’s case; the house the girl vanished from belongs to a man with serious criminal ties, and soon Veronica is plunged into a dangerous underworld of drugs and organized crime. And when a major break in the investigation has a shocking connection to Veronica’s past, the case hits closer to home than she ever imagined.

Top Ten BEA Books On My Summer TBR List (55)

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish
In an effort to actually read the books I got at BEA in a timely fashion, I decided this Top Ten Summer TBR List needs to be all BEA books. I'm terrible at keeping to these lists, but I thought I'd at least but on a show. Y'know, to maybe make myself feel better and to do a little publicity for the ones I'm excited about. And to maybe create a little bit of accountability? The books listed are not necessarily my favorite books from BEA, but they are the ones I really do hope I can get to by the end of the summer. (Some of my BEA books come out a bit later. Others I know I probably won't pick up for a bit, even if their release date is on the sooner side for one reason or another.)

Anyway. Here they are.

What Should I Buy? (6)

I have a coupon. You all like voting. Therefore it is WHAT SHOULD I BUY time!

I started this feature back in August to help me figure out what to do with all of the Barnes & Noble coupons I get. I figured setting up a vote would A) allow you guys have a say in what I read and B) alleviate some of the pressure of picking a book to spend my coupon on. I know I don't NEED a new book, but, hey, I really can't pass up a good discount. Also, I'm addicted to buying books.

So. Come. Help me feed my addiction.

PLEASE REMEMBER: I'm looking for a vote that has a little more than just the title of the book and a "THIS WAS REALLY GOOD." Pitch it to me, a little. WHY should I read this book? WHY do you think I would like it? All help is useful. ALL HELP.

NBI: My coupon expires on JUNE 22ND, so make with the recommending before that date, please.

NBII: I actually have TWO coupons. Guide me, my many shepherds.

Epic Recs: June

Feature created by Amber and Judith, Graphic created by Judith

As many of you already know, Lisa and I are perfect Epic Recs partners. According to Lisa, we should win a prize. Or laugh at other Epic Recs partners from the top of Epic Recs Mountain (this is definitely a thing). And while I am a bit more modest, Lisa is definitely right - we win, we're amazing and brilliant. (So, really, I'm not at all modest, Lisa and I are just both equally absurd when it comes to superficial, joke bragging. And we love each other.)

But, seriously, it's time for June Recs. Are you ready to see what we're rec'ing each other this month?

Top Ten Books I Loved Best So Far This Year (54)

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish
Oh heyyyyy it's Top Ten Tuesday time! This week's topic is "Top Ten Books I've Read So Far This Year." (But obvs I retitled it because I'm sassy.) I have read an embarrassing 40 books so far this year (I moved slowly at the beginning of the year and I've slowed a bit recently) so I don't have that much to pick from. But I like to think I've been spending my time on books I really want to read instead of books I kinda sorta want to read. Because, y'know, I know what I like better now and have people telling me thoughts on books that I can apply to my life. (Friends of Goodreads, I love you.)

Anyway, I hope to read more - and faster - ASAP, but until then, here are the Ten (nay, eleven, since I included a sequel) Books I Loved Best So Far This Year.

PS: THANKS TO MY BEAUTIFUL, LOVELY, ALL KNOWING EPIC RECS PARTNER (LISA) FOR MAKING ME READ TWO OF THESE BOOKS.

Epic Recs Review: A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness

Feature created by Amber and Judith, Graphic created by Judith
So it's the beginning of June and this is the review for my April Epic Rec. Clearly I'm a big failure. To be fair: Lisa and I put off wrapping up April, but I'm the reason this business didn't finish up during May itself. Honestly, Lisa's truly wonderful for putting up with my procrastination and laziness. But anyway, in case you missed our April Recommendations, you can find that HERE. And if you're looking for Lisa's blog, you can find that HERE.

PS: In case you were wondering, despite my inability to stick to schedule, Lisa and I are KILLING this Epic Recs things. Especially because she makes me read books like A MONSTER CALLS.
